Hideaways with history

The Morehead Inn | Dilworth
If “southern charm” were an inn, it’d be The Morehead. Your stay at this spot includes complimentary bike rentals and a classic southern breakfast for two. Fun fact: Morehead Inn’s original owner, well-known local businessman Charles Campbell Coddington, eventually moved to a new spot ~1925 after his wife died called...

The Duke Mansion | Myers Park
Nestled among 4.5 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, The Duke Mansion is a popular wedding and event venue — but it also offers 20 cozy guest rooms. Built in 1915, the mansion served as home to a multitude of Charlotteans (including Coddington) and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Dunhill Hotel | Uptown
This local spot originally opened as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel in 1929. Now, it serves as a 60-room boutique hotel and is the only historic boutique hotel in the city. (Some also say that the hotel is haunted.) Bonus: The Dunhill offers a special “Charlotte Staycation” package for locals.

The owner of this charming getaway seeks to celebrate and share her Caribbean heritage — especially through the famous breakfast she serves guests.

Mini Golf & Bocce Court w/ Outdoor BBQ | Druid Hills
While the interior of this home is lovely, it’s the backyard that has our attention. Featuring mini golf, a bocce court, cornhole, and an outdoor grill, this spot screams “summer barbecue destination.”

The Kube Charlotte | Plaza Midwood
Stay in this 400-sqft converted two-car garage with a funky yet upscale vibe. Don’t worry, it’s still got everything you need — including a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, washer/dryer, and designated work space.

Charming Ranch Getaway | Matthews
Located just outside of Charlotte in Matthews, this home nails the “B&W” theme. Practically every item in the house is black, white, or a mix of both, from accent walls and decor to the dishes.

Cabin fever

The Carolina Treehouse | Derita/Statesville
Our childhood dreams are coming true with this one. Stay in your very own treehouse that overlooks a private pond for a peaceful getaway.

Tiny Two Point Oh | Country Club Heights
Ever felt curious about living in a tiny home? Try it out for a few nights at this small spot that packs a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dedicated work space, and private patio into its limited square footage.

Cabin Oasis | Harwood Lane
Cabin coziness meets farm charm at this spot that sleeps five. During your stay, make sure to say hello to the resident chickens, dogs, and pig.

Treehouse Vineyards | Monroe
You’ll have to drive ~55 minutes outside of town for this one, but once you’re inside your own personal treehouse overlooking a vineyard, you’ll understand why it’s worth it. Choose from a smaller treehouse for two or a roomier option that fits up to six people.

Luxe lodging

The Ivey’s Hotel | Uptown
If it’s good enough for Kendall Jenner + Grumpy Cat, it’s good enough for us. Step into your Parisian Charlotte suite at this luxury hotel that’s located close to a variety of restaurants and bars. Our favorite part about the spot? The Library — a cozy lounge that’s only open to hotel guests.

The Ballantyne Charlotte | Uptown
Stay at this luxury hotel for a restful staycation full of experiences like afternoon tea, spa or salon days, and pool lounging.

Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte | Uptown
