Broadway’s biggest hits coming to Blumenthal Arts

From the return of “Phantom of the Opera” to Broadway newcomers like “Death Becomes Her,” theater lovers will experience a showstopping season in Uptown.

“All the world’s a stage,” and the stage at Blumenthal Arts is about to get major Broadway productions and fan favorites. The Uptown nonprofit released its 2026-2027 season lineup, bringing three direct-from-Broadway productions, five Charlotte and regional premieres, and a few returning showstoppers.

  • “Dirty Dancing” | Nov. 3-8 | The beloved feel-good film adaptation returns to Uptown, proving that nobody puts Baby in a corner.
  • “Death Becomes Her” | Feb. 9-14, 2027 | Adapted from the 1992 movie of the same name, this campy dark comedy follows two rivals chasing eternal youth.
  • “Oh, Mary!” | March 16-28, 2027 | Enjoy the regional premiere of this dark comedy, which paints Mary Todd Lincoln in a new light.
  • “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” | April 20-May 2, 2027 | Prepare to laugh as the members of “The Cornley Drama Society” face technical glitches, flying mishaps, and more on the way to Neverland — produced by Blumenthal Arts and staged exclusively in Charlotte.
  • “Buena Vista Social Club” | June 15-20, 2027 | The popular musical follows the story of Omara Portuondo as she returns to the music studio.
  • “The Phantom of the Opera” | July 7-19, 2027 | Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic tale set beneath the Paris Opera House makes its return.
  • “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” | Aug. 10-15, 2027 | The wizarding world premieres in Charlotte, introducing you to Harry’s son and a race against time.
  • “Beauty and the Beast” | Sept. 7-12, 2027 | The classic Disney tale will be reimagined on stage in the first North American touring production in over 25 years.
