Celebrate Oktoberfest in the Queen City

Don the lederhosen and raise a glass to Oktoberfest, the most wonderful time of the year for beer.

Charlotte is aptly named for Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg. Despite being the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, she also gives us a chance to celebrate her German heritage.

So let’s raise a stein with six Oktoberfest events in the Queen City.

Mecktoberfest at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery | This annual party boasts live music, shopping, polka dancing, and family-friendly fun.

  • LoSo — Friday, Sept. 13-Sunday, Sept. 15 + Friday, Sept. 20-Sunday, Sept. 22. | 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Ballantyne — Friday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 6 + Friday, Oct. 11-Sunday, Oct. 13 | 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Gilde Oktoberfest | Over three weekends, guests can put their strength to the test with Steinholding contests, keg tapping, food, and German beer.

  • Friday, Sept. 27-Sunday, Sept. 29 | 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 6 | 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 11-Sunday, Oct. 13 | 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Lost Worlds Brewing Oktoberfest | This inaugural event will feature German-inspired food, beverages, live music, dancing, games, a Steinholding contest + “Dress for the Fest German” costume contest.

  • Saturday, Sept. 14 | 12-11p.m.

Mecklenburg Oktoberfest | From the minds behind the Taste of Charlotte Festival, visit Truist Field for the Go Jen Go 5K + entertainment, craft beer, shopping, kids’ activities, and food.

  • Saturday, Oct. 5 | 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Cabarrus Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest | Shop from local vendors, drink from “das boot,” and take part in costume + Steinholding contests.

  • Friday, Sept. 20-Sunday, Sept. 22 | 12-11 p.m.

12th Annual Laketoberfest Music & Brew Festival | Sip local beer and wine, dance to live music, sample food trucks + parking and admission are free.

  • Saturday, Oct. 12 | 4-9 p.m.
