Saturday, Feb. 1 marked the beginning of Black History Month. Here are a few ways to commemorate the occasion across the Queen City.

Genealogy Basics: African American Roots & Resources | Tuesday, Feb. 4 | 12-1 p.m. | Online event | Free | Register and trace your family history with a special emphasis on African American resources made possible by Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

Mint 2 Move Cultural Dance Night | Friday, Feb. 7 | 7-11:30 p.m. | The Mint Museum Uptown | $11+ | Experience tributes to Black American music, including special honors to Aretha Franklin, Celia Cruz, and more.

Black History Month Celebration | Saturday, Feb. 15 | 12-6 p.m. | David B Waymer Recreation Center, Huntersville | Free | Get ready for a show featuring live performances presented by Dear Soul Music Co. artists and Drums for Life.

African American Heritage Festival 2025 | Saturday, Feb. 22 | 11 a.m.-5 p.m. | Charlotte Museum of History | Free | Celebrate Charlotte’s Black history learning the stories of trailblazers in Mecklenburg County.
