It was the surprise of a lifetime. The students in West Charlotte High School’s marching band learned they’ll be receiving new instruments and the opportunity to perform at Lovin’ Life Music Fest, thanks to festival organizers and Bojangles.

Watch: CLTtoday was there when the students learned the exciting news.

“We know that dreams start in places like this and in organizations like this,” shared Greg McConnell of Southern Entertainment. “And hopefully one day, one of you guys will realize your dreams by playing on our stage in May.”

The high school’s award-winning marching band, the West Charlotte Marching Lions, has been raising funds to help pay for travel, instrument repairs, and awards ceremonies. “When Lovin’ Life came to us, we thought of you all instantly,” West Charlotte High’s Principal, Paula Cook, told the students. “We just want you to know that you are important to us. You are a vital part of our school community, and we just love y’all so much.”

Can’t wait to hear some local tunes? The West Charlotte Marching Lions will be perfecting their performance now until the festival. However, Lovin’ Life Music Fest is hosting three Battle of the Bands events, where festival goers can get a preview of the local bands set to rock the stage in May.
