If you’re looking to make connections with new people without the influence of alcohol, this is for you. Unboozy Charlotte just launched in the Queen City, organizing meet-ups for people who want to build a more sober-friendly community.

“I’ve realized even in just a short time of us being active that so many people are craving this sort of environment - one where they can make real connections and socialize with others without the focus being on alcohol,” founder Saleha Rana told CLTtoday. “I can’t wait to see how our mission helps us continue to grow and become that welcoming and warm space for people.”

Rana moved from Raleigh to the Queen City in 2024. After noticing a lack of intentional spaces and events for people who don’t drink, she was motivated to start her own group.

“Unboozy Charlotte was created to bridge that gap and to create a community that prioritizes having fun and making real connections,” said Rana. “We want everyone to feel welcome - people who are sober or sober curious, or who don’t drink much in general and want a space for more alcohol-free socializing.”

Since its creation in January, the group has held several meetups including a mocktail happy hour at Billy Sunday, a group dinner, and attended trivia at Lenny Boy Brewing. Moving forward, Rana plans to grow the social calendar with movie nights, mocktail classes, seasonal outings, group hikes, and day trips.

“Some folks might not be as comfortable socializing without drinking, so they might not think this is the place for them, but that’s exactly why we encourage you to join,” shared Rana.

Joining Unboozy Charlotte is free by following on Instagram + joining the GroupMe chat, where folks have already started building their community.
