New food market coming to West Charlotte

The market is a team effort by Counter- and The Bulb to provide healthy options and fight food insecurity in the Queen City.

Fresh produce is displayed on a table during an outdoor farmers market.

More than 10-percent of households in Mecklenburg County live with food insecurity.

We’re keeping our eyes (and stomachs) peeled for new grocery stores soon to debut in the Queen City, but we’re also monitoring smaller incoming food spots playing a vital role.

Counter- is teaming up with The Bulb to open a new market in West Charlotte, starting Tuesday, July 8.

Set to open every Tuesday, the market aims to provide fresh produce for Charlotteans in need of nutritious food.

“It has been our mission since day one to end food insecurity here in Charlotte, and this is our next step. It won’t end it by itself, but this is the next stepping stone to making the biggest impact possible in the Queen City,” according to Counter-.

Haven’t heard of The Bulb? It’s a nonprofit farmers market offering donation-based, free produce to ~12 neighborhoods fighting food insecurity across the Queen City metro.

More details on the upcoming West Charlotte market are coming soon. Meanwhile, browse for fresh produce at one of Charlotte’s many other farmer’s markets.
