Is it food or artwork? Don’t be surprised if that question pops into your head when sampling the dishes at L’Ostrica.

This newer spot, which opened in November 2023 in Charlotte’s Montford neighborhood off Park Road, offers offers an elegant and elevated dining experience, with a 38-seat capacity, plus bar and patio space.

What’s on the menu?

Charlotte foodies will be put on notice while sampling flavors, textures, and stories behind the plates during one of L’Ostrica’s seasonal tasting menus:

Signature Tasting Menu:
10+ courses | $175 per person

Tasting Menu:
Five to seven courses | $110 per person

If you’re looking for something a bit more casual, each Sunday, L’Ostrica offers “Sunday Supper,” an informal dinner built around a different theme. Think: Spanish night or surf and turf.

Dishes are inspired by fresh ingredients and local farmers’ offerings, rather than replicating viral food trends.

Bringing L’Ostrica to life

City Editor Jack and Maria recently got a taste of one of L’Ostrica’s tasting menus while speaking with Cat Carter and Eric Ferguson, the partners behind L’Ostrica.

Carter is an established chef and food writer, while Ferguson is a classically trained chef and restaurateur who traveled the world exploring new dishes.

"[I] moved to Charlotte because somebody said it was a beautiful, young, clean city. I took their word for it,” Ferguson told CLTtoday.

Carter and Ferguson’s shared passion for the kitchen led to their paths crossing and brought L’Ostrica to life.

“Something really extraordinary”

“It was kind of obvious. This is an opportunity for both of us to come together and make something really extraordinary,” said Carter. Plus, you’ll taste the passion and intention behind each dish served and each bottle poured.

“There isn’t a single bottle anywhere in here that Cat and I haven’t tasted,” shared Ferguson.
