Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC may gain a new stadium by 2046

The Panthers will “keep pounding” in Charlotte after 2046. According to the City of Charlotte’s agenda for Monday’s meeting, a new stadium for the team and Charlotte FC could be in the works.
Here’s what we know
According to the city, negotiations with Tepper Sports & Entertainment would start “on or before April 1, 2037.” The potential new stadium would be completed by 2046 in the city of Charlotte.
Why 2046? Let’s do the math. The City of Charlotte will be voting on the proposed renovations for BoA Stadium on Monday. The deal with TSE locks the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC in the Queen City for 20 years. If renovations are completed by 2026, 2046 is the earliest year teams could move to a new city (but who would want to leave Charlotte?).
According to the agenda, the city and TSE “understand the need for potentially new funding sources.” The city’s document states it will negotiate the use of hospitality funds for studies and analysis regarding a new stadium.
Inside the stadium, sports fans can expect a state-of-the-art sound system, scoreboard, and video boards.

So what’s happening with BoA Stadium?
Charlotte City Council is likely to approve the proposed renovations for Bank of America Stadium on Monday, June 24. Under the proposed deal, the city would provide one-time funding of $650 million. Tepper Sports & Entertainment would invest $688+ million.
Based on the city’s documents, construction is expected to start in 2025. Work on the field house could wrap in 2026, with stadium renovations completed by 2029.
Last week, the city held a public hearing on the use of city funds for the renovations. Most small business owners supported the renovations. Council members Graham, Mitchell, Bokhari, Driggs, and Molina voted unanimously to recommend the improvements be moved to consideration of approval by the Council.

It’s always entertaining to see what’s changed over time, especially at the turn of the century. Speaking of time, we wanted to know all about your birth decade:
Over the weekend, I stayed cool by enjoying ice cream at one of my favorite spots in the city — Seemingly Overzealous. The AirBnB Cat Sitting is my favorite flavor and, funnily enough, I did cat sit for an evening.
