Construction on luxury apartments near Charlotte Douglas International Airport will begin next month. West CLT, a $70 million project, will feature 280 units with 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom options. Construction is expected to take two years. (Charlotte Business Journal)

Ballantyne Ridge High School is ready for its first student class. The $159 million school has 100 classrooms, fitting 25 students per class. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 26. (WCNC)

Lowe’s Food is opening a 50,000-sqft store in Concord. The location at 2415 Herrons Nest Pl. NW in the Christenbury Village will open Thursday, Aug. 29 at 8 a.m. There are also three stores coming to Kannapolis, Waxhaw, and Indian Land. (Charlotte Business Journal)

The eighth annual University City Wine Fest returns Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Shoppes at University Place. The festival features over 100+ wines from more than 25 wineries and vendors + live music and local food. General admission is $35.
