Tonight, Carolina Ascent FC will face Spokane Zephyr FC at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
Charlotte’s only women’s professional soccer team began their inaugural season in August and remains undefeated in the USL Super League. They’re also already making history on the pitch.
For example, the team played its first USL league match on Saturday, Aug. 17, in front of 10,000+ fans (a sold out crowd). On Tuesday, Oct. 15, 14-year-old Stella Spitzer made her professional debut against Brooklyn FC. Spitzer is the youngest player in the league.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the team announced several community-focused initiatives to support relief efforts in western North Carolina, including donation drives and donating a portion of ticket sales to relief initiatives.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. + tickets start at $15. Tonight, fans are encouraged to bring a blanket to donate and, in return, will get a custom Carolina Ascent FC stadium blanket.

🏙️ Hometown or home now?

Whether you’re a Charlotte native or a newcomer, the Queen City has its own set of rules that locals understand to be second nature. Think: Specific city knowledge, trends, and colloquialisms.
If you’re lucky enough to live in the 704, here are a few unwritten rules you may know to be true submitted by readers — and if you’re not from Charlotte, these might be a little difficult to explain.
The unspoken rule everyone knows
“It’s UPTOWN not downtown. When the town was starting Trade and Tryon were actually a relatively high point so people would travel up into town.” — Cynthia C.
“Would you like some tea? = sweet tea” — Sarah D.
We love our food
“Brooks’ Sandwich House is a must visit in the first 30 days.” — Carol S.
“Don’t say that whatever mayonnaise-like substance you have back home is better than Duke’s.” — @wzl46 They’re not wrong.
Have another unwritten rule? Share it with us, and we might share it in the future.
Hey, Charlotte. If you haven’t yet, be sure to visit the Carolina Renaissance Festival. It’s going on for a few more weeks and is packed with vendors, turkey legs, jousting, and hours of fun.
