“The Joinery” at Optimist Park announced a bold plan to expand its community. The project by Ascent Real Estate Companies aims to transform 17,000-sqft of ground floor retail at the corner of 21st and N. Brevard Streets into an open-air space with retail shops + food and drink spots.

Service workers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport are on strike during this busy travel week,citing unlivable wages. ABM and Prospect Airport Services vowed steps are being taken to minimize travel disruptions from any demonstrations. More than one million travelers are expected to fly out of Charlotte during the Thanksgiving holiday. (WCNC)

There’s a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Gilead Road and Exit 23 on I-77 in Huntersville. Left turns on US 21 at Gilead Road have been replaced with a new “diverging diamond.” Huntersville Police shared an explainer to help familiarize drivers with the change. (WCNC)

Get ready to run. A new 5K race called The Loop 5K will debut its inaugural race on April 27, 2025. Racers will run The SouthPark Loop, a tree lined urban trail, in part with the SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan. Registration is now open.

Real estate investment firm Stonelake Capital Partners closed on its purchase of a 402,390-sqft building near Concord-Padgett Regional Airport. The building at 7040 Northwinds Dr. NW is occupied by Amazon and the Texas-based firm paid $51 million for the acquisition. (Charlotte Business Journal)

Speaking of Concord... downtown Concord businesses are experiencing early holiday cheer. The city’s annual Christmas parade saw a much-welcome return of customer foot traffic, despite a massive ongoing construction project. Lunch plans? Rooster’s Wood-fired Kitchen is open at The Bowl at Ballantyne. The Winston-Salem-based restaurant offers seating for nearly 300 guests in an indoor dining room, a wine bar, open kitchen + a covered patio.

A new VIP ticket package for the upcoming ACC Football Championship Game at Bank of America Stadium’s Gridiron Club is projected to generate $500,000 in combined new revenue. The ACC Football Championship will be played Saturday, Dec. 7. (Charlotte Business Journal)
