Community

A Cabarrus County orphanage is getting a boost from local businesses after having to cancel its October fundraiser due to Hurricane Helene. Feel Good

✨ A Hallmark holiday

No holiday love story is complete without an ice skating scene at Camp North End. | Photo by Corine Olarte
We asked ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence site, to write a Hallmark Channel-style holiday film about Charlotte. Take a look at this masterpiece:

“Emma, a big-city marketing executive from New York, reluctantly returns to her hometown of Charlotte for the holidays to help her family run their struggling Christmas shop, “Queen City’s Wonderland.” Along the way, Emma reconnects with her childhood best friend, Ben, who now runs a community theater that performs holiday classics like The Nutcracker at the Belk Theater.

The story centers around Emma rediscovering her love for Charlotte’s festive traditions: strolling through the Uptown Holiday Market, ice skating at Truist Field’s Light the Knights Festival, and driving through the dazzling lights of Speedway Christmas. At each event, she learns lessons about connection, joy, and embracing her roots.

Emma and Ben team up to organize a Christmas Eve charity gala at the Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade to save both the shop and Ben’s theater...
Is there love under the mistletoe?

The Buy

Champagne bottle savers. They fit all standard bottle necks to keep your sparkling wine from going flat — the perfect hack for upcoming holiday events and New Year’s Eve parties.

The Wrap

While I love a cheesy holiday flick, I feel like we could really get the ball rolling on a Charlotte-based Hallmark or Netflix film. If Emma + Ben’s love story ever hits the silver screen, maybe it could join this list of movies filmed around the Queen City.

Answered

Speaking of movies, here’s how often our readers go to the movie theater:

ICYMI, Independent Picture House unveiled its new auditorium, seating 145 people. About 36% of voters visit theaters once a month, 32% visit once a year, and 29% prefer watching movies at home. We highly recommend stepping out and visiting IPH. You may find your next favorite film.
