New year, new amenities. Charlotte Douglas International Airport will be upgrading Concourse D in 2025, according to documents from Charlotte City Council.

The nearly $43 million renovations are expected to be complete by early 2027. The 99,000-sqft concourse will provide new bathrooms and seats with charging capabilities + upgraded wall finishes, ceilings, lighting, carpet, and paint. According to city documents, the funding was approved in 2023.

Concourse D is home to 13 gates used primarily for international travel.

The concourse updates are nothing new for CLT. In September, the airport unveiled an expanded Concourse A with 10 new gates and plans for more in the next four years.

To accommodate air travel, Charlotte City Council approved a plan to triple flight paths around the city. The proposed change would bring frequent flyovers to other parts of the Queen City. The FAA will make the final decision + implement those changes over the next two years.
