Today from 12 to 3 p.m., the Second Ward Gymnasium will be packed with food, live music, dancing, and festivities for the Ninth Annual Three Kings Day Festival.
Hosted by Levine Museum of the New South, Fiestas Patrias, and Manolo’s Bakery, the free festival will feature performances by the Cielito Lindo Chorus, drumming activities with NC Brazilian Arts, and educational crafts + activities for the entire family.
“Three Kings Day is as big as Christmas in our country — it’s a time to celebrate love surrounded by our loved ones,” said Manolo Betancur, Owner and CEO of Manolo’s Bakery. “We eat king cake to remind us that although we are away from our countries or home, we will never be away from our traditions.”
Speaking of king cake... Manolo’s Bakery will be making a large Rosca de Reyes to celebrate.
“This festival is a wonderful opportunity for families and neighbors to come together, celebrate diverse cultures and learn about the history and traditions that shape our community,” said Richard Cooper, Levine Museum President & CEO.
