$322 million — that’s how much the City of Gastonia is considering for the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget. The financial plan would avoid a property tax increase while funding infrastructure improvements, public safety upgrades, and employee raises. Lancaster County is eyeing a $40 million pitch to widen a 3- or 4-mile stretch of US 521 in Indian Land to alleviate traffic congestion heading south from the North Carolina line. Applications for the $250 million of available funding are due June 13. (The Charlotte Observer)
