Mecklenburg County Commissioners approved the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2026. The budget includes an increase in CMS funding and employee pay raises, but over $6 million in cuts to nonprofit funding. The budget goes into effect July 1. (WCNC)

Pappas Properties is developing a new multifamily, 82-acre development in Matthews + a wellness-focused project in Mooresville. The firm brought on a new senior vice president to oversee its multifamily development. The Matthews project is expected to wrap this summer, whereas Mooresville will be a phased build starting this summer. (Charlotte Business Journal)

Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange platform in the country, is expanding to 110 East in South End. The move will create 130 jobs with pay ranging from $32 to $41 for hourly and $96,000 to $117,000 for salaried workers. (The Charlotte Observer)

Amazon will be investing $10 billion into its upcoming Richmond County campus. The development 80 miles from Charlotte is expected to create at least 500 jobs and will expand its cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure. (WCNC)

On Tuesday night, I was lucky enough to attend the Charlotte Checkers’ Eastern Conference Series-winning game. I was recording most of the game, but I had to screenshot this moment — when Jesse Puljujariv celebrated what ended up being the game-winning goal, sending the Checkers to a 3-2 lead. His excitement was palpable and I can’t wait to see the team advance to the Calder Cup Finals!
