Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. is welcoming coffee lovers to its first Charlotte-area shop starting Friday, Aug. 22, across from UNC Charlotte. The Michigan-based chain serves Yemeni coffee and hot tea + honeycomb bread, croissants, and other pastries. We’re visiting soon — keep an eye out for our order.
Announced
Maman, a French bakery and coffeehouse, is setting up shop in the former Luna’s Living Kitchen space in South End. The announcement comes as the bakery also plans to open a location at The Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood — plus, a third location in the works. Opening dates remain TBA.

American Airlines’ new travel lounge is now open at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Provisions by Admirals Club offers grab-and-go food, drinks, and travel assistance services to American Airlines’ Admiral Club members + can be found on Concourse A next to Gate A1. (WCNC)
Davidson is Charlotte’s No. 1 wealthiest suburb, according to a study by GoBankingRates. The study used data from the 2023 US Census, and measured mean household income, average value of single-family homes, and changes in those values over one year. (WCNC)

Pets are having a pawsitive impact on Charlotte’s senior residents. Residents at Waltonwood Senior Living Center have recently adopted fur friends from the Humane Society of Charlotte, and say they’re really comforting companions. (WCNC)

UNC Charlotte’s soccer team was chosen as the 2025 American Conference’s preseason favorite. The 49ers are the defending champions of the league + earned 58 points and four of the nine possible first-place votes.
