“This is going to be a world-class event,” legendary sportscaster and Charlotte native Jim Nantz recently told the crowd full of city representatives, media, and Truist employees. Officials with the Truist Championship announced community-focused programming and initiatives that go beyond the tournament in Charlotte.
What’s on the tee
Beginning Nov. 12, Birdies for Better will invite fans to guess the number of birdies scored during the tournament to win prizes while supporting local nonprofits focused on affordable housing, small business growth, and workforce development. Nonprofits can register to receive funds and a portion of the tournament’s $100,000 bonus pool.

Starting May 5, 2026, a monthly spotlight series called Truist Tuesdays will highlight local organizations making a difference in the community. The series will also honor Charlotte native and PGA legend Dr. Charles Sifford.
Championship details
The Truist Championship, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship, will take place May 6-10, 2026. Individual tickets are not yet on sale, but hospitality packages are available.
Women’s professional basketball is coming to Charlotte. Today, Zawyer Sports & Entertainment will announce the team name, logo, and head coach for the Queen City’s team that will play in the new UPSHOT League. We’ll be at the announcement.

Speaking of sports... The Ballantyne Campus opened Crash Course, a new 18-hole disc golf course, off Lower Avenue between North Community House Road and Ballantyne Commons Parkway. The par-three course spans 1.5 miles, is free to use, and will be open daily.

Tega Cay’s Gold Hill Elementary School is the top-ranked public elementary school in both the Charlotte area and the state of South Carolina, according to Niche. The annual rankings combine data from the US Department of Education and test scores, student-teacher ratios + programming.
