🏓 Move aside, pickleball

Two people playing table tennis in a neon-lit room. There are pinball machines behind them, and the two are wearing business-casual attire. It is dark outside, seen through large floor-to-ceiling windows.
The nation’s collective interest in table tennis exists in a strange time loop: once every four years, as the Summer Olympic Games roll around, interest in the sport spikes.

Now, with the success of “Marty Supreme,” the game is gaining attention again — no Summer Games required. If you want to get ahead of the curve, grab a paddle and head to one of these local spots.
  • The best part of a new hobby? Community. That’s what awaits at the Charlotte Table Tennis Club. The oldest ping pong club in the state was founded in 1979 and boasts 170+ members.
  • Once you’ve made a few friends, bring them to Hi-Wire Brewing, where a weekly table tennis night takes place every Wednesday.
  • There are also four tables you can use for free on a first-come, first-served basis at Rally Pickleball. Don’t sleep on the cocktail list.
Did we miss your favorite place to play table tennis? Let us know.
