During Savor Charlotte, Mariposa at the Mint is creating a tasting menu paired with select works of art.

Savor Charlotte — a three-week spotlight on the Queen City’s food scene — is going on now, and I celebrated yesterday by taking part in Taste of the Mint. The event took me on a journey as I enjoyed a carefully designed tasting and wine pairing by Mariposa, before taking an educator-led tour through The Mint’s exhibition: “Across the Nation: Masterpieces from the National Gallery of Art.”
Want to try it yourself? Another Taste of the Mint is planned for next Thursday, March 19 — tickets start at $50.

Recently, I visited Taqueria Mal Pan in South Park for a scrumptious brunch. My wife and I tried the blue corn pancakes, chilequiles, and the huevos con weenies. If you’re looking for a lively brunch, the restaurant will restart Mariachi Sundays on March 22, where a live band will serenade you for the morning. Don’t forget to bring conchas home for a snack later.
