Get ready for an icy battle at Truist Field. College hockey fans will soon be gliding into Uptown for the 2024 Light the Knights College Hockey Series.

Editor’s note: CLTtoday got a sneak peek of the preparations before the upcoming games. See for yourself.

Mark your calendars

Starting Thursday, Nov. 21, Duke University’s club hockey team will face Vanderbilt University.

On Friday, Nov. 22, UNC Charlotte will square off against Appalachian State. (Go Niners!)

NC State University plays the University of South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 23.

For all three games, the gates will open at 6 p.m. with puck drop at 7 p.m. — grab tickets to break the ice.

Last but not least, the University of North Carolina club hockey team will face Virginia Tech’s club on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Why Truist Field?

It’s not the first time the Charlotte Knights transformed their home field into an outdoor hockey arena. In 2023, the Charlotte Checkers won the first-ever Queen City Outdoor Classic in front of a sold-out crowd of 11,000+ fans.

Will there be an Outdoor Classic in 2025? Only time will tell.

Before the games, you can skate the ice. Truist Field annually hosts Light the Knights — an annual holiday festival packed with shopping, entertainment, holiday displays, a wintry tubing hill, and massive outdoor rink.

Light the Knights begins Wednesday, Nov. 27 and runs from 5 to 10 p.m daily through Friday, Jan. 3. Grab your tickets today.
