The city of Kannapolis is blazing new trails and chasing a bold plan to transform 33 acres of land into a revitalized community space called Eastside Park. This upcoming public attraction will have numerous outdoor activities and recreation opportunities that people of all ages can enjoy.

More than just a walk in the park
Eastside Park has remained in an early-development phase since spring 2019. Once complete, the park will be located on Midlake Avenue, adjacent to Fisher Lake — a 534-acre water supply lake operated by the City of Concord.

Amenities at this park will include:

  • Lakefront walking trails
  • A playground
  • A dog park
  • A splash pad
  • Paddle boats
  • A pavilion

Any questions?
On Thursday, Feb. 29, the public is invited to learn more about the upcoming plans to bring Eastside Park to life. The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department staff is holding an informational meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Charity Baptist Church, 2420 Brantley Rd., in the front lobby. Staff will answer questions following the presentation of renderings and other information.

The path ahead
The City of Kannapolis will apply for government-funded grants to help pay for the construction of the park. An exact cost of the project has yet to be made public. If funding is secured, construction will begin between late 2025 and early 2026.
