Charlotte Wine + Food Week (CW+FW) returns for its 36th year of fundraising. That means plenty of options for every taste. The best part: it’s all for a good cause.
Festivities begin Tuesday, April 16 with dinners at Charlotte’s top restaurants, like Counter, L’Ostrica, and Mizu.

Friday night, enjoy the Collector’s Gala & Live Auction — meant for the savviest of wine connoisseurs — at The Union at Station West. The event features a high-end wine and food tasting followed by a seated family-style meal + live auction.
The week-long party continues with the Grand Tasting at The Union at Station West Saturday night, featuring 100+ carefully selected wines, samples from Charlotte-area restaurants, and live music.
CW+FW wraps Sunday, April 21 with brunch at The Wine Vault Elizabeth and a special Closing Night Dinner at Restaurant Constance. You can expect savory dishes and wines from Italy.

The Lovin’ Life Music Fest is offering Early Bird VIP Single Day tickets, going on sale this morning at 8 a.m. Hydration stations will also be provided for the three-day music event, happening in Uptown Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5.
State
Duke Energy plans to transition from coal in delivering electricity, meaning it will likely lead to an increase in costs. Customers could see bills increase 3% over the next two years. The NC Utilities Commission approved the price hike earlier this year. (WCNC)
Outdoors
The Lake Norman Marine Commission is requiring boat rental companies to purchase a $500,000 minimum of liability insurance + undergo Coast Guard inspections every two years. Law enforcement is optimistic the new rules will boost safety measures on the water. (WCCB)
Drink
The Urban Wine Co., formerly known as Davidson Wine Co., closed its Davidson tasting room. The wines will still be available at retailers and restaurants, and are also available online. (The Charlotte Observer)
Environment
The City of Charlotte launched a new tool to preserve and nurture the city’s tree canopy. The application provides people with a convenient and user-friendly way to access recent canopy cover data in their area.
Correction
We made a mistake but the show must go on. Friday, we shared Aerosmith’s rescheduled tour is happening at Bank of America Stadium, but that’s incorrect. They’ll be rocking at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Starting today, local nonprofit Share Charlotte is celebrating Do Good Week. From Monday, April 15 to Friday, April 19, the event rallies the community to volunteer for hundreds of organizations. People of all backgrounds + skill sets are invited to browse upcoming opportunities.

Culinary Connections
This organization provides food security and nutrition education for children across Mecklenburg County.
Children’s Cooking Class | Saturday, April 27 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte | Requirements for volunteers include interactions with students handling cooking and kitchen equipment.
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
The Charlotte affiliate of this national nonprofit offers free resources for patients and families fighting pancreatic cancer.
