City Editor Jack here. City Editor Maria and I spoke to Soucy in an exclusive one-on-one before the golfing world turns to Charlotte.
Let’s tee off with our Q+A:
What can fans expect when they come to next year’s championship?
“We’ve elevated our overall experience for fans. Every ticket sold for the championship is going to be inclusive of food and beverage. If you’re on property throughout the duration of your day, you can go grab an entree, a snack, a non alcoholic beverage and that’s included as many times as you want to visit those concession stands throughout the day.”
Weighing in at 27 pounds and 28 inches high, the Wanamaker trophy is one of the largest trophies in professional sports.

Quail Hollow Club is a beloved local landmark. What are some of the most enduring aspects you find about this place?
“I’m truly a fan of aesthetics when it comes to golf. Blue skies, green grass, 100 acres of property, you do whatever you can that day to fully experience an outdoor atmosphere.
Television, as great as it is, can’t do justice until you’re here on the property. Next May, when the best players in the world are all competing and the fans can stand in this natural amphitheater and take in the pure beauty, I don’t think you really have to enjoy golf to stand there and enjoy yourself.”

Charlotte native finds music success overseas

“Music for me has always been very special,” said Anna Elise LaFrance who chatted from Greece over a Zoom call with City Editor Jack. “The way you can express emotion through music is not something I could find anywhere else.”
“I’m going to do this for the rest of my life,” said LaFrance. “This makes me so happy. I don’t feel alive unless I’m on stage.” The arts offered a way to find confidence, communicate, and understand people. “I think as artists, we’re naturally curious.”
Now, LaFrance is celebrating a recent milestone: recording her first single, “It‘s All Happening,” in July.
