The mountains of western North Carolina hold a special spot in my heart. What has happened to this place I love in wake of Helene is difficult to describe. I took this photo at a friend’s farm in Waynesville, NC, which suffered heavy rain and widespread power outages.
City Editor Maria and I will continue to support our friends in the mountains by finding as many ways to help as recovery continues.
