Despite online claims, the village of Chimney Rock will not be bulldozed. The mountain community suffered extensive destruction from Hurricane Helene. Chimney Rock State Park will remain closed throughout the month of October. (WCNC)

Lake Norman residents living along Riverside Drive say there’s little left to salvage in wake of severe flooding from Helene. Residents told WCNC’s Anna King help is greatly needed and recovery will likely take years. (WCNC)

Mimosa Grill is hosting a dinner to benefit the survivors of Helene in western North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. Donations will go toward World Central Kitchen. Tickets are now available.

Multi-Grammy-nominated country artist Eric Church — a native of Granite Falls — released a surprise single “Darkest Hour,” dedicated to the communities ravaged by Helene. According to a news release, Church signed over his publishing royalties “to the people of North Carolina” to benefit the disaster relief. (WCNC)

Arkansas-based logistics company J.B. Hunt Transport Services recently acquired 34 acres of property near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The location at 8329 Old Dowd Rd. was purchased for $10 million. Plans for the property remain TBA. (Charlotte Business Journal)

All CATS Blue Line and Gold Line services will be closed for upcoming maintenance. The closure begins Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 a.m. and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21. (WSOC)

The Savannah Bananas announced Banana Ball, the “most entertaining game of baseball,” is coming to Charlotte for the 2025 World Tour.
The game will be played Saturday, June 7 at Bank of America Stadium — one of only three football stadiums selected.
Fans can expect a fun night of baseball, choreographed dances, walk-up-song performances, and break dancing coaches

“We’ve had tremendous support from all of North Carolina, but this is our first time in Charlotte so we know the Queen City is going to be rocking!
