Shop ‘til you drop. Reclectic, an overstock store from Urban Outfitters, Inc., will open in Pineville on Feb. 7. The store at 10500 Centrum Pkwy. will have overstock and returned clothing, accessories, and home goods at 50-60% off retail.
Closing
Today is Poppy Hand Crafted Popcorn’s last day at Birkdale Village. The Asheville-based popcorn shop cites difficulties in recovering lost revenue after Helene. The store is offering four bags for $20 + can still be found at local retailers.
Announced
Carowinds announced two new celebrations coming to the theme park: Summerbration (exact dates TBA) and Viva La Fiesta, running July 19 through Aug. 10. The events will celebrate culture, the summer season, and feature live entertainment. The park opens for the season on March 15.

Charlotte-Meckleburg Schools is raising the minimum wage for its employees to $20 an hour, starting as early as February. The changes will be made during multiple phases over several years, pending funding. (WCNC)

A roundabout and new housing are coming to Mooresville. Witherspoon Woods by Cambridge Properties will build 175 single-family homes + redevelop the intersection of Rocky River Road and Kistler Farm Road. A construction timeline is TBA. (WCNC)
Job
Nearly 100 cargo workers are getting laid off from Air General at the end of March. The company in west Charlotte is stopping operations at its facility along Yorkmount Road near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Its two other Queen City locations will remain open. (WSOC)

Get a car wash for a good cause. Starting Monday, Feb. 3, Autobell Car Wash will donate sales from its Rain Repellent Special wash to Samaritan’s Purse. The funds will aid recovery in Western NC + the fundraiser runs through Sunday, Feb. 16.
