🍻 There’s Sycamore to go around

Coming soon to Cotswold Village: Sycamore Brewing‘s second location in the Queen City.

“Its South End location skews younger,” co-owner Sarah Brigham told Laura Barrero for Axios Charlotte. The new location will be built with families in mind.

CLTtoday confirmed the new location will boast 7,000 sqft of indoor space + an 11,000-sqft beer garden, plus a larger food menu, kids menu, brunch, craft cocktails, and table service — something the original location in South End does not currently offer.

For comparison, the South End taproom spans 21,000 sqft across two floors and features an Airstream food truck, beer garden and taproom, and plenty of indoor + outdoor seating.

This is a unique addition to Cotswold Village shopping center — a hub anchored by Harris Teeter, PetSmart, Ulta Beauty, and several eateries.

The new location is expected to open in summer 2026, joining two other breweries in southeast Charlotte: Edge City in MoRa and Vaulted Oak in Echo Hills.

If you’ve dined at Supperland, Ever Andalo, Haberdish, or Growler’s Pourhouse, you’ve probably sipped a cocktail created by Colleen Hughes. The renowned mixologist and beverage director for Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group is nominated for a James Beard Award and spoke exclusively to CLTtoday about the honor.

A surprise honor

Hughes is nominated for Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service — a new category for the prestigious awards.

“I think because it was the first year, I certainly didn’t expect it,” explained Hughes.

From learning to leading

The award-winning mixologist has been mixing drinks for 15+ years in the Queen City, learning the craft on the job.

Beyond the bar, Hughes is active in the community. She mentored for The LEE Initiative, and served as a founding board member and former president of the Charlotte chapter of the US Bartenders’ Guild.

The finalists will be named on April 2 + the winners will be unveiled June 16 in Chicago, IL.
