The games — considered to be the Olympics for the world’s militaries — will bring 10,000 athletes to the Charlotte area to compete in 25 different events, from swimming and track & field, to military-specific events like pentathlon and parachuting.

Happy Monday, everybody! I had a blast sampling the Carolinas’ best pit-masters at the Carolina BBQ Festival over the weekend. My favorite sampling turned out to be the brisket sandwich slathered in barbecue sauce. My recipe for a great sandwich: the smokier, the better.
