Grab your popcorn for a stroll down cinema lane. The newly-restored Carolina Theatre is reclaiming its “lost years” for 13 weeks this summer, by showing classics like “E.T.” and “Ghostbusters” on the big screen beginning Sunday, June 8.
Since closing in 1978, the historic theater missed out on blockbuster films. Now, it’s presenting movies from the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s, years that movies never graced the landmark’s screen

Downtown Huntersville could see a new apartment building on Gilead Road, across the street from the Holbrook Town Center. A rezoning project is in the works for the 1.7-acre property to build a four-story, mixed-use building, with 55 apartment units. The town planning board is scheduled to review the project on Tuesday, June 24. (Queen City News)

48% — that’s how much the Census Bureau estimates Fort Mill’s population has grown since 2020, leading the town council to consider putting a pause on new home projects for the rest of 2025. The council’s next meeting will be Monday, June 9, with a final vote expected on June 23. (The Herald)
