The Fourth of July makes me want a hot dog real bad. From neighborhood grill-outs to baseball game brats, summer is hot dog season.
We asked for your favorites and rounded up local spots to grab a dog. We’ll be frank, we know Charlotte has other hot dog spots. If you’re favorite didn’t make our list, let us know.

Independence Day. America has been celebrating this day for 249 years since the Declaration of Independence was formally adopted on July 4, 1776. Round up the kids, friends, or just yourself and head to Red, White & BOOM or any of these local celebrations.

Fireworks and celebrations can be fun for people, but scary for pets. The Humane Society of Charlotte has tips for keeping your animals safe during the celebrations today.

Speaking of the holiday... AAA is reactivating its Tow to Go program for Independence Day weekend in Charlotte to combat impaired driving. The free, confidential service will get drivers and their cars home safely, regardless of membership status. AAA encourages advanced transportation plans, but offers the service as a “last resort.” (The Pulse)

Coffee and charcuterie — say less. The Board Babe, an eatery offering coffee, custom charcuterie, and catering, will open in Optimist Park in August. Expect to order grab-and-go items like sandwiches, salads, and outdoor seating. (The Charlotte Observer)

Development
Renovations are planned for the office tower at 525 N. Tryon St. in Uptown. Highland Ventures purchased the building in May and is planning upgrades that could cost more than $15 million, including a new rooftop terrace, updated suites, and conference rooms. (Charlotte Business Journal)
Environment
Mecklenburg County launched a new community-based campaign aimed at making solar energy and battery power more affordable and accessible. Enrollment is free until Oct. 31.
Kids
Need something to do this summer? Museum of Illusions released a budget-friendly family ticket package for the summer. The discounted offer covers two adult and two children’s tickets + a $20 merchandise voucher to be used Monday-Thursday in the museum gift shop.
Registration is open for NoDA’s “NoDaWeen Freaky 5K” — a Halloween-themed run through the heart of NoDa. Runners with the best costumes will be able to win prizes + proceeds from the Freaky 5K benefit NoDa NBA community projects.
