News Notes

Arts

Help choose which murals will be installed in NoDa. The NoDa Neighborhood Association was awarded a placemaking grant, allowing for a crosswalk mural and a large-scale piece along the Cross Charlotte Trail. The murals vary from an homage to the skyline, the hornet’s nest of rebellion, and celebrate NoDa.

Announced

South End is getting a new sushi, cocktails, and music space. Yugenn will open in September, and feature curated cocktails and a DJ, playing anything from chill beats to upbeat dance faves. An exact opening date remains TBA. (The Charlotte Observer)

Plan Ahead

Carolina Theatre is channeling the macabre by showing eight of Hollywood’s most iconic horror films, starting Friday, Oct. 3. Whataburger’s Indian Land location is opening today at 9 a.m. near the Indian Land YMCA. The first 100 people in line get a free breakfast sandwich + from 4 to 7 p.m., meet Charlotte FC mascot Sir Minty and dance to live music. And no, it’s not the same as What-A-Burger. (WCNC)
