What’s new at the 2025 Cabarrus County Fair

The Cabarrus County Fair and Rodeo kicks off tomorrow, Sept. 5-Saturday, Sept. 13, with rides, games, classic fair food, and nonstop family fun.

Rides aren’t the only thrills this year — for the first time ever, the fair will feature a rodeo hosted by Southern Rodeo Company, a two-time award-winning stock contractor.

Here’s the schedule for this year:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4-10 p.m., Friday: 4 p.m.-midnight, Saturday: 1 p.m.-midnight, and Sundays: 1-10 p.m.
  • Rodeo: Sept. 5, 6, 12, and 13 at 6:30 p.m. (separate $25 ticket; includes fair admission)

  • Senior Day | Monday, Sept. 8 | Free admission from 3 to 4 p.m. for ages 55+.
  • Two-Can Tuesday | Tuesday, Sept. 9 | Get $2 off when you donate two nonperishable food items.
  • School Night | Wednesday, Sept. 10 | Free admission for Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City Schools students (tickets will be sent home with them).
  • Carload Night | Thursday, Sept. 11 | $90 per vehicle (up to six people).

Development

The historic Excelsior Club could soon see a $7.8 million revitalization. The proposal would transform the venue into a two-story venue featuring a museum, live performances, and a restaurant. If approved, construction would begin in the second quarter of 2028. (WCNC)

Charlotte is about to get wild. Survival expert Bear Grylls, known for “Man Vs. Wild,” will host a one-night-only fireside chat at Carolina Theatre. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Nov. 4 — tickets go on sale tomorrow, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.

Transit

A section of the Rail Trail near South End’s New Bern Station will close Monday, Sept. 8, for a drainage replacement project. One side of the trail will be closed at a time to allow for an accessible detour route. The closure is expected to last four months and will not disrupt the Blue Line. (WCNC)
