Charlotte hasn’t had a law school since Charlotte School of Law closed in 2017 — that’s about to change. Elon University will launch a full-time law program at Queens University of Charlotte, pending formal permission from the American Bar Association (ABA).

“The need for graduate and professional programs in one of our nation’s fastest-growing cities makes the launch of a full-time law program a natural next step for Elon Law,” said Elon University President Connie Ledoux Book.

Elon plans to enroll 75 students in fall 2027. In their second year, students will have the opportunity to learn alongside a practicing attorney or judge.

Once classes are in session, three program options will be available for law students:
  • Full-time, 2.5-year Juris Doctor program
  • Part-time, 4-year Elon Law Flex program
  • Full-time, 2.5-year Juris Doctor program in Greensboro, NC
Ready for your Elle Woods moment? Applications for the full-time program will open in August — register for admission updates.
