What’s old is new again. Many of us love taking pictures on our smartphones to capture life’s special moments. But have you considered preserving those memories through a different lens?

Despite living in a digital age, camera stores across the Charlotte area still provide opportunities for anyone interested in the “old school” art of film photography.

Whether you’re a professional shutterbug or new to the game, here’s just a snap of where to get your film photos clicking:

Biggs Camera

Found near Carolina Medical Center, photographers can order and send out 35, 120, and 220mm film.

Cardinal Camera

Stop by the store in The Arboretum for film stock options and keep your eyes peeled for cameras like Kodak, Fujifilm, and Leica.

The Photo Outfitters

Photo enthusiasts and newbies alike will feel right at home at the Oakhurst location, which also offers photography classes and dark room rentals.

City Editor Jack, here. You might be wondering, “why film?” As an avid photographer, film photography provides a nostalgia and aesthetic that digital photography can’t replace. The limited number of shots per roll helped me become more intentional with what I was capturing. Plus, there’s a delayed gratification in seeing what you caught on film — both the good and the occasional blurry shots.
