Building business: The Market at 7th Street

Housing local vendors, wine connoisseurs, and chefs, The Market at 7th Street is providing more than an Uptown lunch destination.

Did you know the Queen City boasts several food halls within a 30-minute drive from Uptown? Options are endless with a vibrant food scene like ours, but there’s one food hall operating as a starting ground for new business owners — The Market at 7th Street — which is celebrating the opening of three new stalls.

The new businesses are all graduates of HIIVE (Hub for Inclusivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship), a 9-week small business development program created by Charlotte Center City Partners and the City of Charlotte.

The Market was Charlotte’s first food hall that operated as a nonprofit, small business incubator for aspiring business owners, artisans, and chefs. Since 2011, more than 40 small businesses have called the Market “home.”

Fun fact: The Market was home to the original locations for Not Just Coffee and Mano Bella Artisan Foods.

“The Market at 7th Street is more than a food hall—it’s a home for small businesses to test, grow, and connect with the Charlotte community,” said Salem Suber, Executive Director of The Market at 7th Street. “We are proud to welcome these three dynamic businesses to The Market. Seeing them transition from our HIIVE program to a physical storefront is exactly why we exist.”
