Starting Thursday, Nov. 21,Duke University’s club hockey team will face Vanderbilt University.
On Friday, Nov. 22, UNC Charlotte will square off against Appalachian State. (Go Niners!)
NC State University plays the University of South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 23.
For all three games, the gates open at 6 p.m. with puck drop at 7 p.m. — grab tickets to break the ice.
Why Truist Field?
It’s not the first time the Charlotte Knights transformed their home field into an outdoor hockey arena. In 2023, the Charlotte Checkers won the first-ever Queen City Outdoor Classic in front of a sold-out crowd of 11,000+ fans.

Construction has started on Microsoft’s three Charlotte-area data centers. The Conover site is expected to take 18-24 months. Construction in Maiden and Hickory will run through spring 2025. The development will pump $1 billion into Catawba County. (Charlotte Business Journal)

A new South End hotel? New renderings released by BB+M Architecture reveal a high rise along E. Bland Street with “hotel brand” marked in the corner. According to Charlotte Business Journal, Cousins Properties purchased the properties on that block in November 2020.
Announced
UNC Charlotte released renderings of its expansion of Jerry Richardson Stadium. Groundbreaking is slated to begin in Aug. 2025. Fans can expect more than 3,000 additional seats + luxury suites.
Opening
CLTtoday got a sneak peak of VTGCLT’s new pop-up shop at Camp North End. The shop opens today + features more than 100 new and vintage brands. The shop will be open through Monday, Dec. 23.
Coming Soon
Upscale fashion stores Ann Mashburn and Sid Mashburn will open at the Specialty Shops SouthPark in fall 2025. These are the first locations of these shops in North Carolina. The stores will replace Talbots, which is set to close on Jan. 31. (Charlotte Business Journal)

New all-terrain wheelchairs will be available to rent at Mecklenburg County parks. The ATWs will provide residents better greenway access. Reservations are being accepted now + ATWs will be available starting Monday, Nov. 18.

A Mooresville student is putting pen to paper to share her story with epilepsy. Thirteen-year-old Emery Guenther wrote and self-published “Sky’s Strength,” a children’s book raising awareness about her diagnosis. (WCNC)

The Charlotte Hornets unveiled a new Nike NBA City Edition uniform. The mint, green, and granite uniforms will be worn during the 2024-25 NBA season. The colors pay tribute to the first-ever US Mint, which was established in Charlotte. (WCNC)
