You don’t need to venture far off the beaten path to find a stunning waterfall. An easy pull-off from Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway 11 brings you face to face with Wildcat Wayside Falls. The lowest level features a calm pool at the base of the falls. Pack a picnic and enjoy the soothing sounds of nature.

The Town of Huntersville voted to approve the expansion of Birkdale Village. Jamestown LP plans to add a hotel, 150 multifamily units, 26,000+ sqft of retail space, and a new six-story office building. (WCNC)
Development
More than 300 apartments will be built near CLT Douglas. Charlotte City Council approved the construction along Queen City Drive, an area within the airport noise overlay, meaning residents will likely hear planes often. (WSOC)

Shop ‘til you drop.No Man’s Land, a free festival celebrating women and women-owned businesses, is taking over Camden Road on Saturday, March 22. While the festival is free, VIP tickets are available for guaranteed access to all activations + a swag bag.
Opening
Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes is taking over the former Moe’s Southwest Grill space at the Queen City Quarter. The Texas-based burger chain serves Angus beef burgers, black bean burgers, and fries + plans to open on April 24. (Charlotte Business Journal)
Coming Soon
The creative minds behind Customshop and Marina’s Tapas will open a wine bar in Dilworth, serving wines by the bottle and the glass + indoor seating, a communal table, and patio seating. The 1,200-sqft space will be in the former Mere’s in The Courtyard shopping center off Park Road.
Get your books while you can. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will be closing its branches and book drops in April to update its software system. The closures start April 1 but will return to normal operations by May 5.

Mark your calendars for July 5 and July 12. The Queen City is becoming a major destination for rugby, the USA Eagles — the US men’s national rugby team — is slated to play two international matches at American Legion Memorial Stadium, home of Anthem Rugby Carolina.
This summer’s matches will be the USA Eagles’ first time playing in the Queen City, as they vie for the 2027 World Cup.

“This is the highest level of rugby that’s ever been played in Charlotte and a really amazing opportunity for rugby fans,” Patrick Stack, president of Anthem RC told reporters.

One of the best parts of representing CLTtoday is learning something new about Charlotte. While reporting on the international rugby matches coming this summer, City Editor Jack and I had a blast going on the field and learning some real rugby moves.
