Charlotte Museum of Nature revealed what its Frog Bog will look like. The bog will be in front of the museum, allowing free access to visitors at Freedom Park. The museum is anticipated to open in 2026.

Today is the first day of early voting for the November elections. On the ballot: elections for a mayor, city council members, and school board representatives + the transportation tax referendum — more on that coming soon. Early voting runs through Nov. 1.

The Queen City has a new food hall. Utsav Supermarket + Food Hall recently opened across from the Costco on Tyvola Road in Yorkmount, serving Indian and Indian-American cuisine, like biryanis, pizza, and shawarma. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board heard public comments on its draft AI policy during last night’s community meeting. The draft includes training for teachers and staff, procedures to monitor technology, and protecting student work. The board will vote on Tuesday, Oct. 28. (WCNC)
Opening
Camp North End will soon welcome Glitch Tattoo to its business lineup. The studio is expected to open in November, and offer blackwork tattoos and pop-culture inspired designs, plus arcade machines, tabletop gaming areas, and community events. An exact opening date remains TBA.
Biz
Corning Optical is expanding to Catawba County. The Charlotte-based fiber-optic cable specialist will take over a nearly 33-acre lot at a Hickory business park, and hire more than 130 people for its manufacturing operations. (The Charlotte Observer)
Announced
The David and Nicole Tepper Foundation donated $5 million to the University of South Carolina, boosting the school’s sport management program and an existing scholarship fund. The program will also be renamed as the David and Nicole Tepper Department of Sport and Entertainment Management. (WCNC)

The finalists for the NC Tech Awards have been announced and several Charlotte-based companies are on the shortlist, including Rapid Strategy, XenTegra, and Troodie. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

We’ve got paranormal pursuers among us as 55% guessed correctly — Fred makes the lights flicker at Carolina Theatre. The other 45% guessed Bill, Daniel, or Mary. There’s a chance those ghosts are haunting somewhere... just not in Charlotte that we know of.
I’m excited to visit Utsav Supermarket + Food Hall in South Charlotte. One of my favorite aspects of my role is the opportunity to try new foods across the Queen City! When I visit, you’ll be the first to know.
