The Charlotte Hornets unveiled their new City Edition Remix jersey. According to the NBA, the uniforms celebrate generations of basketball passion in the Carolinas, plus colors inspired by the bird of paradise — a flower admired by Queen Charlotte — and purple and teal pinstripes. Order yours before tonight’s game.

Open

Reserve your table, Panko is officially open in NoDa. The Peruvian Nikkei restaurant will serve ceviche, grilled octopus, sushi, Brazilian churrasco, and Argentinian steaks. We’re excited to try the Barranquino tenderloin.

Development

A music hall could be coming to South End. The Providence Group filed a proposal with the City of Charlotte to renovate the building at 2519 S. Tryon St. to become “Anthem Music Hall.” The hall would be part of the Anthem District, a multi-phase, multi-use development. (Charlotte Business Journal)

Sugar Mountain Resort is officially open for the 2025 winter season. Dozens of skiers hit the slopes yesterday, which were packed with man-made and natural powder. Plan your wintry escape. (WCNC)

Community

The Presbyterian Hospital and Novant Health Inc. plan to open a $16.5 million freestanding emergency department. Novant Health Cornelius Emergency Department will be finished by January 2028. A public hearing is planned for Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library.

Get ready for some holiday cheer — the Charlotte Knights will screen “Elf” at Truist Field on Wednesday, Dec. 17 on the stadium’s videoboard. Enjoy themed bites, plus access to all of the Light the Knights Festival activities, including ice skating and snow tubing. Tickets start at $40.

Eat

Dilworth Neighborhood Grille opened its new location in Fort Mill’s Baxter Village. In the former Killington’s space, the restaurant boasts an expanded kitchen, familiar menu items like crab cakes, pizzas + wings, and seats 200 people. (The Charlotte Observer)

Pets

Skiptown is expanding its dog-walking services to Huntersville. The service offers flexible scheduling and GPS-tracked walks by trained, background-checked professionals — and you can still hit the town with your pup after.

Closed

The Pizza Peel + Tap Room announced its closing in Cotwold after 17 years serving gourmet pizza, wings, and beer. The last day to grab a slice is Sunday, Nov. 16. The owners aren’t going anywhere — they recommend visiting sister-concept The Improper Pig when it opens in Plaza Midwood next month.

Coming Soon

Whole Foods Market will take over the former Earth Fare spot along North Community House Road in Ballantyne. Asheville-based Earth Fare closed back in January. An opening date has not yet been announced. (The Charlotte Observer)

ICYMI — Charlotte saw its first dusting of snow Monday night ahead of the winter season. Karla H. — aka @charlottemama — posted this video of her daughter attempting to catch snowflakes. WCNC Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich reports this week’s snow was the fifth-earliest on record.

I didn’t see any snow at my house, but if I did, I would’ve tried to grab a few flakes myself. It would’ve been wonderful to see the snow up in Banner Elk, though I’m still enjoying fall a little while longer!
