Development

Treenail Development broke ground this week on Town1, a new mixed-use project coming to Huntersville. By 2028, the development is expected to include 700 residential units, retail, restaurants, and a pedestrian-friendly village. (Charlotte Business Journal)

City

Developer Griffin Brothers is proposing to build new facilities and entertainment space in South End’s Brookhill Village, a 42-acre historically Black community. Plans include a resource center with a gym, commercial kitchen, and pickleball courts. City Council is expected to vote on the proposal in December. (WCNC)

Shop

Mark your calendar. Zara is expected to open its first NC location at South Park Mall on Thursday, Dec. 4. The highly anticipated store will sell clothes for women, men, and kids + include state-of-the-art retail technology with self-checkout. (Axios Charlotte)

Travel

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is expecting to see about two million people travel through the airport for Thanksgiving, a 10% decline from 2024. The busiest days are expected to be Saturday, Nov. 29, Sunday, Nov. 30, and Monday, Dec. 1. Get acquainted with CLT before taking flight.

Country superstar Brad Paisley will headline the 67th annual Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 2. The annual event promises a weekend full of rocking performances, activations, and speed before the big race. Tickets are already on sale.

Biz

Simon, the parent company behind SouthPark Mall, acquired Phillips Place. The open-air retail center in SouthPark boasts 25+ shops and restaurants, a 180+ room hotel, and housing. Simon has plans to add new offerings, merchandise, and elevate the center over time. (WCNC)
