🏈 The big game looms
How about a Super Bowl watch party at Angry Ale’s? | Photo via Social Ape Marketing
Although we’re still disappointed about the Panthers’ heartbreaking playoff loss, it’s time to get excited for Super Bowl 60. Whether you’re cheering for the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots, or just hope both teams have fun, the big game is best enjoyed in a lively atmosphere.
Here are five spots around Charlotte hosting watch parties:
Angry Ale’s
The Montford bar is showing Charlotte pride with its Drake Drink, named after Patriots and former Myers Park quarterback Drake Maye. There are other special menu items, too, including a 24-inch Philly cheesesteak.
Sweet Lew’s BBQ
Good vibes and good food await. It’s free to reserve your spot to make the most of $5 drink specials and $15 barbecue snack platters — because football is better with wings.
Platform Sports
Don’t let the 2,200+ miles between here and Santa Clara stop you from tailgating. You can look forward to classic tailgate games, a photo booth, food + drink specials, and merch before kick-off.
Last weekend’s snowfall was the most that came down on Charlotte in over 20 years. The 11 inches has not been surpassed since February 2004. Please stay safe on the roads.(Queen City News)
State
North Carolina had the highest number of new residents of any US state in 2025, per new US Census Bureau data. A total of 84,000 people flocked to the Tar Heel State, leading to a 1.32% population increase. That’s no surprise here in the Queen City — just check out our growing food scene. (AP News)
Today Is
The midpoint of winter. We are exactly halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, meaning the days are getting longer, and our streets’ willow oakswill be at full bloom before we know it. It’s also the perfect excuse to plan a summer vacation, starting at CLT Douglas. (Farmer’s Almanac)
Concert
Post Malone and Jelly Roll are bringing their joint tour to Charlotte later this year. The pair of stars made the announcement yesterday, and will bring their litany of hits to Bank of America Stadium on Tuesday, June 9. Presale ticket sign-ups are open.

Have ideas on how to improve Charlotte’s parks? The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation department is hosting public meetings regarding the Meck Playbook, a 10-year master plan that sets the County’s vision for investing in parks, nature centers, recreation centers, and programs. The workshops are free to attend.

A community for good

The Ivey, a brain health and memory wellness center in SouthPark, is launching a new program for people living with Parkinson’s Disease and the caregivers who support them. Parkinson’s Power focuses on helping people move and think at the same time — a skill known as “dual tasking” that can become more challenging with Parkinson’s. Classes combine boxing-inspired movement, hand-eye coordination drills, and small-group games that encourage focus and social connection.
“This program is designed to be a place where you know your loved one is socializing with people who understand, and you can feel a little relief knowing they’re getting the individualized care they need,” Founder Lynn Ivey said.
Classes will meet two-to-three times per week and last about an hour — a waitlist is live, as the program is still in development.
