Uptown is buzzing. CLTtoday got a sneak peek of the second phase of the Charlotte Hornets’ Re!magine Spectrum Center. The $245 million renovation project will offer guests a greater experience from the second they walk through the doors.

Belk Concourse

The newly named concourse will have upgraded signage, lighting, flooring, improved concessions, and two new restrooms.

A new bar with direct visibility to the bowl is also in the works.

Seating enhancements

Every arena seat is getting replaced, with 1,400 new seats being added to the lower level for closer views of the action + seats in the 200 level will be two inches wider, providing a more comfortable experience.

North and South Districts

These new premium spaces — meant for game watching and socializing — will promise unique themes, each with a 360-style bar + food and beverage options.

The North District will be centered around “modern sophistication.” Think: lighter and brighter tones, while serving Lunazal — the largest 100% agave tequila brand in North Carolina.

The South District will showcase “southern hospitality” with darker tones, creating a warm and cozy ambiance — like a whiskey bar.

Food and beverage experiences

Grab-and-go markets will be added throughout the Belk Concourse. Plus, guests can expect more frictionless interactions when ordering food — basically, you’ll get your food faster.

Founders Level Renovations

This VIP guest space is being transformed with a new layout to create a sophisticated atmosphere, making a prime vantage for watching games.

The timeline

Phase two construction kicked off last month with plans to reopen by October to commemorate the Spectrum Center’s 20th anniversary.

“Our goal is for every person who enters our doors, from our guests to our promoters, entertainers, our NBA players, to have an exceptional experience,” said Donna Julian of Hornets Sports & Entertainment. “It’s great to look at other facilities and see what’s happening, but it has to fit Charlotte and our community.”
