If you’re looking for the ultimate playground near South End and Uptown — complete with cocktails, gourmet food, a large deck, and a massive jumbotron — consider this a present. Market on Morehead is expected to open by mid-March.

Located at Carson Station along the Rail Trail, the market pairs its laid-back atmosphere with easy access to Charlotte’s most popular neighborhoods — free parking included.

Building expectations

The one-stop shop along Morehead Square Drive promises to be a community hub serving “elevated Americana cuisine” from locally-sourced ingredients, plus drinks, 100+ events, and entertainment.

“Events include live trivia, karaoke, music bingo, live music, watch parties, and more,” Josh Willoughby, Co-owner and CEO of Market on Main, told CLTtoday.

Sports fans, pay attention. Catch your favorite teams on the 25-ft jumbotron outside, indoor and outdoor stages, and a pet-friendly patio — all within walking distance of Bank of America Stadium.

Expanding into the Queen City

If you’ve visited Columbia, SC, (hey, COLAtoday), the concept comes straight from the brains behind Market on Main, which opened in late 2019.

“Growing up and living down the road in Columbia, we visited Charlotte frequently for shopping, sports events, and to fly out of the amazingly well-connected airport,” said Willoughby. “Charlotte was always the plan for our second location.”

An exact opening date remains TBA — keep your eyes on your inbox for updates.
