Soccer lovers, unite. In case you missed it, ticket pre-sale registration is going on now for the FIFA World Cup. While the Queen City won’t be hosting any games this year — yes, this is different than the FIFA Club World Cup — it’s only a five-hour drive to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA, for the eight matches happening Tuesday, June 16, to Sunday, July 5.
Snagging tickets can be a little tricky for those who haven’t done it before. Without further ado, here’s how to get yours.
Register online
Your first stop is to create your own FIFA ID, you’ll visit FIFA.com/tickets. At the top right corner of the page, you’ll want to click on the “person” icon and then “sign up.” Enter the details requested, create a unique and secure password, and agree to the conditions.
Watch for the draw
The first phase of ticket sales is the Visa Presale Draw, which is open through Friday, Sept. 19. Once registration ends, there will be a randomized process to select fans who will be able to purchase their tickets.
Editor Maria, here. I registered and learned ticketing will begin notifications no earlier than Monday, Sept. 29. Then, you’ll get a timeslot to purchase tickets starting Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The second phase will run from Oct. 27-31, with purchase timeslots from mid-November to early December, with the final draw expected to take place in December.
Ticket prices will range from $60 to $6,730.
Hospitality packages
Hospitality packages are on sale, starting at $1,350 a person. Some amenities include sideline seating, champagne on arrival, live entertainment, and special guest appearances — tickets are going fast for some matches.
Purchase through official channels only
FIFA is clear about one thing: you’ll want to purchase through official channels only. Don’t run the risk of being scammed or missing your opportunity.
A different way to watch the game
If you’d rather be part of the action, you’ve got until Monday, Sept. 15 to throw your name in the volunteer hat. May the odds be ever in your favor.
