University City announces signature events for 2025

Expect to visit wine and arts festivals + relocated events this year in the University area.

It’s not hard to find a hub of activity in practically every corner of Charlotte. From Uptown to Ballantyne, 2025 is shaping up to be a jam-packed year for your social calendar.

If you live near University City, we haven’t forgotten about you. In fact, you’ve got lots to look forward to.

Set the GPS to the Shoppes at University Place, where all the listed events below are taking place.

University City Wine Fest | Saturday, Apr. 12-Sunday, Apr. 13 | 1-6 p.m. | $35+ | Take full advantage of springtime with a weekend of boundless wine, craft brews, and cocktail tastings.

University City Farmer’s Market | Every Saturday from May 3 through Oct. 25 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | Cost of purchase | Shop for local veggies and fruits, meats, artisanal food, and wellness products.

Juneteenth Art Fest | Thursday, June 19 | 4-8 p.m. | Free | Explore local artists, live music, dance performances, and a marketplace showcasing small, minority-owned business.

Charlotte Kids Fest | Saturday, Oct. 4 | 11 a.m.-4 p.m. | Free | Bring the kids for a day of family fun, featuring a dance zone, arts and crafts, a science center, and a massive play area.

UCity Lights | Saturday, Nov. 22 | 4-8 p.m. | Free | Start your holiday season on a festive note visiting Santa, sipping hot cocoa, and marveling at the annual tree lighting.

Sound fun? These reoccurring events are no coincidence. According to University City Partners, the community has seen an increasing number of popular Charlotte events relocating to the area, such as:

BOOM Charlotte | Friday, April 25–Sunday, April 27 | Various times | Cost of purchase | Experience performances, live art, and entertainment in indoor and outdoor settings.

Charlotte Brunch Festival | Saturday, May 17 | 11 a.m.-3 p.m. | Cost of purchase | Get your brunch on with dozens of local restaurants and vendors at this annaul event.

Low Country Culture Festival | Saturday, Sept. 13 | 1–6 p.m. | Cost of purchase | Savor the flavors of Lowcountry cuisine, vibrant art, local crafters, and rich history.
