🏆 We’re seeing stars

Charlotte’s dining scene is back in the national spotlight. Chef Robin Anthony of Omakase by Prime Fish and Prime Fish Cellar has been named a James Beard Semifinalist in the Best Chef: Southeast category.

“This recognition belongs to my team — our chefs, managers, sommeliers, and the entire Prime Fish team — who show up every day with discipline, humility, and pride in our craft,” Chef Anthony told CLTtoday.

Last year, the Queen City received three James Beard nominations but took hom no wins. We’re hoping this changes, as several Charlotte restaurants recently joined the MICHELIN map, including Omakase by Prime Fish and Prime Fish Cellar.

Finalists will be announced on Tuesday, March 31, and winners will be celebrated during a Monday, June 15 ceremony in Chicago. Psst... there are plenty more nominated restaurants worth taking a short road trip for, including several in Asheville and Raleigh — check out the full list.

The Wrap

Now is the time to prepare for this weekend’s wintry weather. Take this from someone who lived in Ohio and experienced significant snow in the winters: You don’t need to stock up on milk and bread. Consider buying non-perishable foods, granola bars, water bottles, batteries, and pet supplies. If there are power outages, you’ll want foods that are easy to make or don’t need heat to cook.
