Growth is happening everywhere in Charlotte. That’s why every now and then, it’s comforting to revisit something timeless. Even for a sandwich.

If you’re looking for a quick bite in NoDa, consider checking out Brooks’ Sandwich House, a family-owned business serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches + a delicious family-made chili since opening in 1973.

Fun fact: The stand was founded by CT Brooks before passing the business to his twin sons, Scott and David.

A beloved landmark

During 50+ years of business, Brooks’ has gained a loyal customer following and was voted “Best Burger in North Carolina” by Reader’s Digest.

Despite endless burger options in Charlotte, the multi-generational love for Brooks’ goes beyond a few tasty bites. Brooks’ Sandwich House continues to be an anomaly — seemingly frozen in time when the buildings and development surrounding the modest burger stand continue to grow.

The restaurant currently has no plans of closing despite a potential sale listing, and many Charlotteans couldn’t imagine the Queen City without this small business staple continuing to serve delicious burgers.

Your memories

“Best memory was my first time to Brooks’. Stopped there after moving to NoDa. Figured I’d eat as I drove some around doing some errands. [I ate] the entire thing in the parking lot. Every time but once, I’ve gone with the cheeseburger all the way.” — Run & Mural

“40 years in Charlotte and still love the cheeseburger all the way!!!! Amazing!!!” — Em
