Lace up your shoes. After two years of renovations and improvements, the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center and Grayson Skate Park are ready for visitors.

Named after community activist and founding Grier Heights Presbyterian Church member Naomi Drenan, the updated recreation center now features renovated multipurpose rooms, upgraded building systems, refreshed locker rooms, and new office space.

Outside, skateboarders will find covered benches, new flatwork, and a revamped entryway into Grayson Skate Park, plus access to basketball and tennis courts, a playground, and multipurpose fields.

“The center is ready for the next generation of memories,” Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Director Nick Walker told CLTtoday. “They have games, after-school programming, community meetings, summer camps — all the everyday moments that make neighborhoods feel like home.”

As for other skateparks in Mecklenburg County, take a look at this. Seven other parks are either under construction or in early design phases.
